411 on Dyslexia and how to use the Utah State Dyslexia Handbook to guide you!

There are no classes scheduled at this time.

What is dyslexia, who has it & how can I help?

If you are like most teachers, you've heard of dyslexia, but you are not sure how to recognize it in your students or what to do if you suspect a student may have it. You may know that dyslexic students struggle with reading, writing, and spelling, but you do not know how to best serve them.

In this 3 hour course, you will learn how to identify students who may have dyslexia and suggestions on the best ways to help them! I will introduce you to the Utah Dyslexia Handbook, which was created by a group of individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise who came together to create a guideline for educators and families about best practices for teaching these amazing students.

Students with dyslexia are capable and intelligent. They are often creative, artistic, intuitive, and innovative. The sooner we discover their learning differences, the sooner we will be able to use these strengths to create a positive, supportive learning experience for them. In doing this, we will give them an amazing gift that could possibly change the course of their entire lives!
